You are invited to attend An Evening with Emma on January 12 in anticipation of the premiere of the fresh and fiercely funny new adaptation of Jane Austen’s comic masterpiece. This new version of the classic tale stars Romola Garai (Atonement) as the “handsome, clever and rich” Emma Woodhouse, a young woman who dominates her small provincial world of Highbury.
The first hour of the film will be shown followed by a discussion with Dr. Elisabeth Lenckos, who teaches at the University of Chicago Graham School and is academic advisor to the Jane Austen Society of North America; and Dr. Jonathan Gross, professor of English and director of the DePaul Humanities Center and a past speaker at the Jane Austen Society of North America. There will be time at the end for a lively Q & A all about Emma.
